Reef and Rock Formations Trincomalee

  • Pigeon Island South Reef ( Depth 4 – 16 m ) This is an ideal dive site to see all kind of reef fishes. Hard and soft corals. Host, sea, club and disc anemones .
  • Pigeon Island East Rocks ( Depth 7 – 18 m ) Beautiful rock formation with schools of fish, eels and rays
  • Pigeon Island North Reef ( Depth 2 – 10 m ) One of the best dive sites for beginners with many beds of corals covered with Christmas tree tube worms
  • Pigeon Island West Rocks ( Depth 5 – 12 m ) Colourful rocky bed with bubble mushroom and cup corals, schools of fish.
  • Black Tip Points ( Depth 2 – 8 m ) Best dive site to see black tip reef sharks, turtles, anemones, clown fish and schools of reef fishes.
  • Coral Island North Reef ( Depth 5 – 12 m ) Ideal dive site to find all types of anemones with clown fishes. The sea bed is fully covered with leather and sponge corals
  • Coral Island South Reef ( Depth 5 – 10 m ) Hard and soft corals spreading around the entire area, schools of reef fishes.
  • White Rock ( Depth 10 – 15 m ) Schools of fish and different types of sting rays.
  • Knife Rock ( Depth 10 – 15 m ) This is named after the knife-shaped rock in the area. Beautiful dive site with lots of reef fishes
  • Coffin ray ( Depth 15 – 20 m ) Special dive site for torpedo rays. Huge rocky formation with all types of reef fishes.
  • Matti Gala ( Depth 12 – 15 m ) Beautiful dive site full of anemones, clown fishes, groupers and blue spotted sting rays.
  • Eel Dock ( Depth 12 – 18 m ) Rocky bottom with many different kinds of eels.
  • Red Rock ( Depth – 6 – 12 m ) Ideal dive site to see different types of hard corals and reef fishes.
  • Ghost Rocks ( Depth – 15 – 22 m ) Unusually shaped rocky bottom with many schools of reef fishes.
  • Anemone bed ( Depth 20 – 23 m ) Very good dive site to see many different kinds of Anemone.
  • Sand hole ( Depth 25 – 35 m ) Flat reef bottom with a huge sand hole in the middle. Very good dive site for advanced divers.
  • High patch ( Depth 20 – 25 m ) A long reef with rocky slabs. One of the best dive sites to see big fishes.
  • Sithanam para ( Depth 12 – 18 m ) Very good dive site with many sting rays, eels and schools of reef fishes.
  • Swami Rock ( Depth 10 – 35 m ) Magnificent dive site with a historical value sting rays, groupers and all the reef fishes.
